Residential Structure Fire
York City
278-282 Cottage Hill Road

At 5:07 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, units were dispatched to 280 Cottage Hill Road for a residential structure fire. This call came in just after calls for a rescue call at a city park and a malicious false alarm from a Gamewell street box.

Units arrived on the scene to find a well-involved fire in the rear of three row homes, and a resident was rescued from the second floor of one home via the front porch roof.

The fire quickly progressed to three alarms, bringing out numerous mutual aid units and recalling off-duty firefighters.

Residential Structure Fire

At 12:33 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2008, units were dispatched to the 300 block of West Princess Street for a residential structure fire. A second call to E-911 reported a structure fire at 470 West Princess Street.

Units arrived on the scene to find a fire on the third floor of the building. The working fire dispatch was quickly sounded, bringing additional resources to the scene.

This is the first fire since the York City Fire units have started using their 99 unit numbers on the radio, and was also the first fire for the department's new MSA SCBAs.

Multi-alarm Structure Fire
West Manchester Township
3001 West Market Street
Saturday, August 2, 2008

At 11:26 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2008, units were dispatched to 3001 West Market Street at Keystruct Construction for a commercial structure fire. A West Manchester Township Police officer reported a heavy column of smoke visible from his location, and quickly arrived on the scene reporting a working structure fire.

Units arrived on the scene to find a well advanced fire in the building, which was being referred to as the Americana Tire building. The working fire dispatch was quickly followed by the second alarm assignment.

Multi-alarm Structure Fire
West York Borough
3 South Highland Avenue
Tuesday, July 15, 2008

On Tuesday, July 15, 2008, units were dispatched to 3 South Highland Avenue at the tattoo shop for a working structure fire. E911 had received several calls, including a call from a West Manchester Township firefighter. West York Fire Station 1, around the corner on West Market Street, were also alerted to the fire just prior to dispatch.

Units arrived on the scene to find a well advanced fire involving two structures, the tattoo shop and a house next door. A second alarm was sounded quickly to bring additional resources to the scene.
